A subdomain is a website url, that is under a main, or a root domain name. One example is something.domain.com, where domain.com is the main domain, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Every subdomain can have its own website and records i.e. apart from employing the domain name as part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be entirely independent and even hosted by a different company. Using a subdomain can be quite useful if you'd like to have different sites that are associated in some way. As an example, you can have a web-based store under the main domain and a forum under a subdomain in order to offer means for your clients to ask questions and / or share opinions concerning your products. The advantage of using a subdomain as opposed to a subfolder is that the web sites are going to be separated, so you are able to update one of them or perform maintenance not affecting the other.
Subdomains in Shared Hosting
When you use shared hosting plans you are going to be able to create subdomains with a few clicks in your hosting CP. All of them will be listed in a single place together with the domains hosted in the account and arranged under their own domain to help make their management easier. No matter the plan that you pick, you will be able to create hundreds of subdomains and set their access folder or create custom error pages along the way. You will also have access to lots of functions for any of them with just a mouse click, so from the same section in which you create them you can access their DNS records, files, visitor statistics, etc. As opposed to other providers, we have not limited the number of subdomains that you can have even if you host only one domain address inside the account.
Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers
You can create as many subdomains as you wish with any of our semi-dedicated plans as we haven't set an upper limit for this feature. The Hepsia website hosting Control Panel allows you to add a new subdomain with a few clicks and you'll be able to access a variety of advanced features during the process - change the default access folder, choose the IP address the subdomain will use from the shared and dedicated ones which are offered in your account, activate FrontPage Extensions, add an SSL certificate, and much more. Even if you set up a large number of subdomains, you're going to be able to keep track of all of them with ease as they will be listed in alphabetical order below their main domain. For each of them, you can also access the web site files or view logs and usage stats through quick access buttons.
