SSH Telnet
Discover more about the Telnet protocol and its use.
SSH, which is an abbreviation for Secure Shell, is a network protocol employed to transfer encrypted information between a client and a hosting server, making it impossible for unauthorized parties to intercept any information. Many tech-savvy users prefer SSH because of the enhanced level of security. The connection is made and the commands are sent through a command line. The available options depend on the type of hosting service - on a shared server, in particular, files can be moved or deleted, databases can be imported and exported, and archives could be set up or unpacked. On a virtual or a dedicated server, your options are much more - the web server and the database server could be started/stopped/rebooted, server-side software can be installed and more. These things are not possible on a shared server, since full root access is needed and all the other clients on that server will be affected. Though SSH is employed predominantly with UNIX-like OSs, there are SSH clients for other OSs too - Windows, Mac OS, and so on.

SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting
When you have a
shared hosting account with our company and you would like to deal with your content remotely using SSH, you can get SSH access to the account via your Hepsia Control Panel. If your package does not come with this feature by default, you may add it with a couple of mouse clicks via the Upgrades menu. Inside the SSH section of the CP, you shall see the host, the port number and the username that you should use when you connect to the account. You may also select what password you would like to use, since it doesn't need to be the same as the one for your account. We have prepared a number of Help articles where you could find all the commands that you'll be able to use with a shared hosting package, along with examples of how they are used. In addition, if SSH access is allowed for your account, you'll be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection via a standard client like FileZilla, for instance.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you have a
semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to get SSH access to it with just a mouse click from the corresponding section of the Hepsia hosting CP, provided with all accounts. If your plan does not support this function by default, you shall be able to include it with ease via the Upgrades menu. As soon as you go to the SSH section, you'll discover the details you need to connect to the server using a command line or a desktop application - the server/host, the port number, the username and the password. The latter could be updated at any time, if necessary. These login credentials are also required if you want to upload files using a secure connection and you want to use SFTP, which is also part of the SSH access service we provide you with. A detailed list of the commands which you can execute will offer you a better idea of what tasks you could perform inside your account and each one is accompanied by a number of examples of the syntax.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
All our
VPS server solutions include SSH access as standard, so you won't need to include any upgrades or enable anything - as soon as the server is set up and you receive its login details, you shall be able to connect via its main IP address and the login credentials that you've chosen through the signup procedure. Due to the fact that the VPS accounts come with full root-level access, there aren't any restrictions with regards to the commands that you could run. Your server shall be isolated from the others on the physical machine, so you shall be able to manage more or less everything using a command line, including server-side software installations and reboots. That way, you'll be able to work with your files, databases and any apps which you install in a fast and risk-free way.
